A little about me
be the best version of you!
Keanue My name is Wong……..Nick Wong
I got my first taste of show business when I took a risk and auditioned for a talent competition called Sunshine Nation. I was chosen as one of the top five male finalists (Sunshine Boyz). During the course of the competition, I shot a commercial, I was interviewed on the radio, I practiced public speaking and I learned how to model. At the finale, I performed dance, showcased martial arts as my talent, performed posing and cat walking and did a Q & A session with the hosts. After the competition, I immediately got work to model in a magazine advertisement for Cosmo Computer & Photo Imaging Co. I didn’t take the plunge into acting until after my contract with the government expired and I became unemployed. It was then I decided to take a free acting class from which I discovered my true love and passion. I love acting because it allows me to express myself freely. Acting also brings me greater happiness and freedom because it helps me to forget all the negativity in my world. Aside from that, I also enjoy fight choreography, directing, film editing and monologue writing. To no surprise, my hobby is learning and practicing martial arts, primarily Wing Chun, boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. I like to challenge myself by learning new skills to add to my arsenal and I want to participate in everything to do with film or entertainment to gain more experience and exposure in this field. As long as a movie is good and is worth my time to watch, I enjoy all film genres, but if I had to pick one then, unsurprisingly, it would be action and martial art flicks. As for my favorite action and martial art actors, the ones that come to my mind are Keanu Reeves, Mark Dacascos, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, Michael Jai White, Scott Adkins, Jet Li (李連杰), Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Jackie Chan (成龍) and Jacky Wu (吳京). Lastly, I am an entrepreneur. I started my business on Amazon as a seller of used books. I love doing this business and learning about entrepreneurship because it allows me to gain more knowledge. |
Partial Timeline Starting at Adulthood
2001-2007: Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics with Finance Option. So much money spent just for a title on a piece of paper. A gift to mom and told her that was it, never going back to school again. 2008: Got my first taste of showbiz when I successfully auditioned for Sunshine Nation and was chosen as one of the top five Vancouver Sunshine Boyz finalists! 2009: Modeled for a magazine advertisement for Cosmo Computer & Photo Imaging Co. and went back to school because of the bad economy. Lesson learned: never say never. 2011: Earned Diploma in Business and worked at Best Buy. It was actually really fun working there, learned a lot about human emotions from irate customers (my real life intro to acting for emotional memory). 2012: Earned Post Graduate Professional Accounting Certificate and got a contract job with the federal government. 2013: A crazy year! I lost my Best Buy job in January due to store closure, and my federal government job in December because my contract expired. Never expected to lose two jobs in one year. 2014: Due to unemployment, it was one of the best years I ever had because that’s when I discovered my love and passion for acting so I started acting classes. 2015-2019: During this period I was in many films and some can be watched on my YouTube channel. 2018 and 2019 were the best years because during this period I was a lead actor for Time Spree and a supporting lead for Think of the Worst. Fun Fact: Think of the Worst was accepted to 6 film festivals which included Short Circuit: Pacific Rim Film Festival, Sunrise Film Festival, Nickel Independent Film Festival, Film Festival of Columbus, Urban Film Festival and Sunderland Shorts Film Festival which won the audience favorite award! 2020 - 2021: The unforgettable years of MULTIPLE PANDEMICS so this gets a special section of it's own. Although it was a tough and depressing couple of years, I managed to make the best of it by creating my own short film called "It's Not Really That Bad". It was my very first project as a producer, director, editor, screenwriter and cameraman to make a comedic short related to the pandemic. To my surprise, it was accepted to 4 film festivals which included Bridge Fest, The Quarantini Monthly Film Festival, Faux Film Festival - Special Pandemic Edition and Pandemic Film Festival. 2022 - Current: As we all know, the pandemic is still happening so I wish everyone to continue to stay safe and healthy. I'm currently jotting down ideas for a few short films I plan to develop once this global crisis is over so stay tuned!
